You Tube

You Tube is a great resource to use because children love to see themselves on camera or Video.  Children can create their own video by either recording themselves acting out a play or talking about something, have the teacher record the children in discussion or they can splice together different shots to make their own video and share it with the You Tube. You Tube can also be a way to introduce or extend learning in the classroom through videos that are posted.  You should however check the video or contact the person who posted the video to ensure you have the right to show this video in a classroom.  Also prior to setting up an account which should be in the teachers name, unless the students are over 13 and have permission from their parents to do so, to protect what is being shown and distributed within the school setting and also to limit the availability of the students from getting on be keeping the password secret and or changing it frequently.
